Why am I seeing ‘unfavourable exchange rate’?
Why am I seeing ‘unfavourable exchange rate’?
As a Layer 2 exchange we provide the best user experience, rates and low gas fees.
WstETH is a market asset - traders are free to trade that against ETH at the current market price. Although 1 WstETH should always trade above 1ETH and increase in value compared to ETH, due to other market conditions that can temporarily change and the market rate could drop below what it should be - we call that a depeg.
Therefore, when the price of this market pegged asset changes too far in one direction or the other due to the relationship between ETH, StETH and WstETH, an unfavourable exchange rate can occur.
When this happens we present a warning when you are attempting to buy or sell at an unfavourable rate to ensure that you can make a decision with all of the available information.
